Mova's Makeshift Deck - Enclosure for 8.9" LCD
thingiverse
This remix was made for a different 8.9" LCD harvested from a small Lenovo laptop from 2005. The HDMI controller board was this one from eBay. I had another one that had the same specs, but it was a TFT, not TN or IPS. https://www.ebay.com/itm/154575099919 Most parts for this build are spares, and I do not recommend buying a 7A/hr RC battery specifically for this screen, which is why I made the size of the assembly longer and deeper. The connectors for this battery are EC5 and JST 2.54mm 5-pin. However, some other spare parts include: two speaker diaphragms from a 2016 turn table one Hiletgo 14.8V Battery Management System one spare 20mm power switch one spare 24mm industrial push button one 10A fuse one 10A Schottky diode one mini DisplayPort to HDMI adapter one 6" HDMI cable two of those cheap buck converters adjusted to 12V and 5V respectively one of those cheap boost converters adjusted to 19v one Drok charging buck converter adjusted to 16.8V two DC 5.5mm male barrel jacks one DC 5.5mm female barrel jack Intel NUC 5th gen i3 ADT Link's PCIe-M.2 adapter a SATA 4-pin adapter cut to remove the 5V connection miscellaneous crimp connectors four short M2 screws for the display four more, longer M2 screws an HDMI dummy plug to get the most out of the most important feature a 16-pin PCIe cable, just in case and most importantly... the GTX 1050 Ti. This build was meant to be an absolute unit that eats the Steam Deck for breakfast. However, that sounded too good to be true with a limited budget and nonexistent patience. Like anyone else during COVID, no matter how late in that arc, I need to get my bang for buck too. It might be somewhat more expensive in the short-term, but I am sure it will last longer than an official product, and even be easier to repair.
