Mouth of Sauron
thingiverse
Printed on an Anycubic Photon resin printer. I was experimenting with ZBrush, starting with a dynamesh sphere 128 while watching tutorial videos sculpting a face. This was my very first 3D sculpture and it was going well until I decided to add some teeth. I made my first mistake by sculpting them from just the front view. They looked okay for a beginner but when I rotated the model, I thought, "That's horrific!" My husband is a big LOTR fan and had been asking me to find a Sauron model to print, so I immediately thought of the Mouth of Sauron. I decided to run with it and create a bust version. Thus, I created this bust as my first 3D sculpture. I'd like to revisit it at some point to correct minor issues and add better detailing, but I wanted to share it with those looking for a Mouth of Sauron bust to print. This file has been checked for errors and is completely manifold (watertight) with no self-intersections, so it should print well. We printed ours at the model's default height (111mm) hollowed with 2mm thick walls at the default layer height of 50um (0.05mm). The total print and cleanup time was about 11 and a half hours. Someone asked for a version for FDM printers on our Patreon, but we don't own one yet. I made some tweaks to try to make the model more printable in filament (thickening up things here and there and tweaking things to need less support). It seems he was able to get it to print, so I've uploaded the model here. This version also has thicker, deeper runes so they'll show up at lower resolution. This model should be used for editorial purposes only.
