Mouth Chip Clip from 3D Scan of Teeth
thingiverse
This chip clip design uses an actual 3D scan of a set of teeth for the jaws. The clip assembly is 100% 3D printed, the spring clip needs to be printed twice (1 for each side). The spring clips slide into the grooves on the jaw and roof, slide them unit the groove on the spring engages with the retention hump inside the groove (there will be a click). The clips will need to be opened slightly to get them in place. I measured about 1 kg of clamping force, however, the force will ultimately depend on the material used for the springs. Each STL is a single body. Reorient the parts in the slicer so that the large flat surfaces are against the bed - teeth pointing up. Print the springs on the side. The multicolor print was made in PrusaSlicer 2.6.0 using the new "multlimaterial paint" feature. The PrusaSlicer 3mf file is included with the teeth painted to make that step easier. I recommend printing the springs with PETG because PLA will lose its springiness over time since it is under constant load. I also included an Step file of clip assembly without the teeth for easier remixing.
