I purchased a substantial mouse pad, but my mouse continued to register movement even when it was just an inch off the pad. I decided to conduct some research and discovered that the "Lift Off Distance" setting was set too high. By using tape to obstruct part of the laser window, I found a solution, but if there's no object to hold in place, the tape can accumulate dust and debris, which hampers its effectiveness. I am currently utilizing the PICTEK Gaming Mouse: https://www.amazon.com/PICTEK-Programmable-Breathing-Ergonomic-Computer/dp/B01FZ3BR5S/ref=sr_1_2?crid=35OUGM6R9HIOR&keywords=pickteck+mouse&qid=1563067797&s=gateway&sprefix=pickteck%2Caps%2C158&sr=8-2
