The DM created this custom magic item for our group, and I must say, it's been a blast to play with. Our very first homebrew treasure was a wheel of cheddar cheese, which granted us the ability to conjure a rat familiar once per day. To activate its magical properties, we simply had to take a bite out of the cheese, and suddenly, for an hour, we'd have a loyal and trusty sidekick by our side.
