Mourning Slave Boy

Tarentum, Italy's ancient necropolis area was acquired in 1881. A 3rd century BC limestone statue of a young boy stands out with its striking features. The boy is identified as a slave by his slender physique and oversized head, which are contrasted with the brief garment he wears. It is highly probable that this statue belonged to a large funerary monument in Tarentum. As such, the boy likely stood before the statue of his deceased master in a small temple dedicated to honoring the dead. This artifact is part of "Scan The World," a non-profit initiative launched by MyMiniFactory.
