A 2mm hole depth prevents scratching the spider web that forms when printing in mid-air without support. If you're not comfortable drilling holes into the wall, this could be an alternative solution to mounting the base of the Vitoconnect 100 to any tube with a diameter of 110 mm and then snapping the device onto it securely. I've mounted mine to an isolated heating system tube using this adapter. Before printing, make sure to lay it flat on the printer table by rotating it into position.
