I was thoroughly unimpressed with every design I tested for the z-Axis. The initial design lacked sufficient stiffness, while my revised design featuring thicker rods and igus bearings proved to be a non-starter due to excessive breakaway torque and an unwelcome stick-slip phenomenon. With the new design in place, I am thoroughly pleased, which is why I am eager to share it with you. I acquired a set of Chinese copy HIWIN MGN 12 Rails, each measuring 400mm long, for a mere 40 Euros. I then discarded the bearings and invested in two authentic MGN12H Linear Bearings, costing 60 dollars apiece. To my delight, they function exceptionally well on the Chinese rails.
