Mounting Plate for optical Mega:Bit
thingiverse
This thing is a mounting plate designed specifically for an optical Mega:Bit. For more information on what a Mega:Bit actually is, see http://www.pocketmoneytronics.co.uk/?page_id=398. The plate perfectly fits onto the front side of a BBC micro:bit, allowing individual phototransistors to be precisely positioned over each of the LEDs on the micro:bit LED matrix. These phototransistors can then be used to control separate LEDs, making it possible for a larger scale micro:bit (Mega:Bit) to be controlled by the micro:bit itself. The mounting plate is designed to work in perfect harmony with these phototransistors - http://cpc.farnell.com/vishay/bpw85c/phototransistor-t1/dp/SC08561. For detailed instructions on how to create a Mega:Bit, check out the article on our blog site http://www.makerspace-uk.co.uk/megabit/. Special thanks to David Whale (https://twitter.com/whaleygeek?lang=en) and Andrew Gale (https://twitter.com/PocketMoneyTron?lang=en) for their invaluable assistance in putting together our own version of the Mega:Bit.
