Mounting plate concept

A while back, I conceptualized an innovative design intended to serve as the foundation of a new extruder mount for a Lulzbot Taz printer. Although I ultimately pivoted to a different approach, this concept's potential and interest warrant sharing, possibly inspiring someone to create something remarkable. The core idea revolves around a large flat plate that securely holds the item being mounted, while the upper and lower components provide lateral support. The middle piece of the upper component slides back and forth to engage or disengage the mount. Additionally, two springs and a long guide rod would be incorporated into the design. When the keyway is manipulated laterally, sufficient clearance would be created to allow the plate's vertical movement, enabling it to slide up and out. With the keyway in place, the spring pressure would reinforce the rigid positioning, theoretically achieving a zero lash mount. Due to the lack of printing and testing, the design likely requires adjustments, which is why I'm sharing the step files.
