Mounting plate concept

A while back I worked up a design concept that was intended to be the base of a new extruder mount for a Lulzbot Taz printer. I ultimately went a different direction, but I feel this concept is interesting enough and potentially useful enough that maybe someone will get inspired by it and make something cool.

The basic concept here is the large flat plate holds whatever you want to mount, and the upper and lower piece hold it in place. The upper middle piece slides back and forth to lock it in place. There would also be a pair of springs and a long guide rod in there. When you pull the keyway sideways there would be enough space to slide the plate up and out. With the keyway in place, the spring pressure would reinforce the rigid positioning, theoretically making for a zero lash mount. I never printed it or got to the testing phase so it very well needs adjustment, hence the step files.

Print instructions

Category: Parts Summary

A while back I worked up a design concept that was intended to be the base of a new extruder mount for a Lulzbot Taz printer.
