Mounting Bracket for Canon DSLR to hang straight down from ceiling
prusaprinters

I wanted to use my old Canon Rebel T2i for live streaming my workbench from the top down view. Since my webcam didn't give a clear enough view. Using a tripod I would always have a leg in view, and a tripod on my workbench! I didn't have a way to mount it from the wall either, since it would need to be almost a meter out. So instead I wanted to hang it from the ceiling.

My basement is unfinished, so I needed to hang it from the floor joist. I knew it would be difficult to hold the weight stable with just the mounting screw from the bottom, so I designed something that would hold the weight at the top of the camera also. Sense there's no sensors above the lens or anything, it works well, to have something that hooks under the flash.

If does block the screen and a couple buttons on the left side, but everything else is accessible, and it's won't effect the functionality. Especially since I'll be using Eos utility to control it anyway. There may be some lenses that could have issues with the proximity of the bracket. But I wanted to make sure it was strong.

I think it will fit a t3i also, but I don't have one to try it on. Let me know if you need a remix, or feel free to remix it for your own camera, or a finished ceiling, I'll probably do that anyway.

It prints without any supports, 0.24mm layers is fine, and the slotted hole should bridge well. For strength I would recommend 5 perimeters and 20% infill or tougher if you like.
