Mounting Adapter for Geared NEMA17 Stepper Motor
thingiverse
Adapter for mounting a geared NEMA17 stepper motor to a standard NEMA17 stepper mounting bracket is designed specifically to mount a Zyltech 17HD48002H-C5.18 to a NEMA17 adapter like this, no affiliation, using four M3x5mm socket head cap screws. Added security comes from threaded brass inserts like these in the four outside holes that fasten the adapter to the bracket. To do the same, enlarge the holes with a 4 mm drill bit and press the inserts into the holes using a soldering iron. Coupled with a 12 mm stainless steel filament drive gear with an 8 mm bore like this and an aluminum extruder body like this, you'll have a fairly substantial extruder that will never strip, print reliably at lower temperatures and higher rates, and be almost completely immune to hotend clogging. Months after installing this combo, not a single print failure has been experienced, and the quality of prints has been much more consistent than with an ungeared direct-drive extruder. Tips, while never expected, are always appreciated. Thanks!
