Mounted Dragon Head
thingiverse
The dragon head was sculpted using Sculptris, while the shield was modeled in Inventor. Subsequently, both were imported into Meshmixer to form a unified watertight mesh. This model served as a demonstration for an upcoming class at Danger!Awesome in Cambridge, MA. For those interested in learning digital sculpting basics for 3d printing, the class details can be found at http://www.eventbrite.com/e/digital-sculpting-for-3d-printing-january-2014-tickets-9820211517?aff=eorg. During printing on a single extruder Makerbot Replicator, standard settings in Maker Ware with raft and support were utilized. Infill was changed to linear, and the filament was switched between the shield and dragon head for optimal results.
