Mount Rushmore National Memorial stands as a majestic sculpture carved into the granite face of Mount Rushmore, a towering batholith in the Black Hills of Keystone, South Dakota, United States. Gutzon Borglum masterminded the design and spearheaded the project's execution from 1927 to 1941 with his son Lincoln Borglum by his side. The monumental work features 60-foot sculptures of four influential United States presidents: George Washington (1732–1799), Thomas Jefferson (1743–1826), Theodore Roosevelt (1858–1919), and Abraham Lincoln (1809–1865). Spanning 1,278.45 acres, the memorial park sits at an elevation of 5,725 feet above sea level, encompassing a total area of 2.00 square miles or 5.17 square kilometers.
