Mould / Mold corners for Oil Sand casting
thingiverse
I frequently create aluminum and bronze castings in oil sand. The challenge is that I require multiple size mold-boxes, which makes it difficult to manage my inventory efficiently. To address this issue, I decided to utilize the same corner blocks and only modify the side-panels. One casting mold requires eight (8) corner blocks. The model stands 30mm high and features a 4.2mm slot for the side-panels. In my example, I used 4mm aluminum and cut four pieces: each measuring 150x30mm and four more pieces: each measuring 100x30mm. Next, I inserted the side panels into the printed corner blocks. I then cut four pieces, 30mm in length from a 5.5mm steel rod to create centering pegs. Drilled six-millimeter holes in each corner, which enlarged the existing printed hole, and attached the pegs to one mold-box.
