Motosilurante CRDA 60 t Series I - Italian MS Boat (1/300)
thingiverse
The MS Boat, or more formally the CRDA 60 t motor torpedo boat, was an Italian development based directly on the German S-Boat design. Early in World War II, Italians managed to capture some Yugoslavian S-Boats that they had purchased from Germany prior to hostilities breaking out. As it became clear that their own MAS 500 torpedo boats were not well-suited for longer ranged missions due to a lack of seaworthiness, the MS Boat was developed. This design proved highly successful. Two MS Boats, specifically MS 16 and MS 22, sank the British Town-class light cruiser HMS Manchester, which remains the largest warship sunk by torpedo boats during WWII. The model on display is based directly on drawings of the MS 16, one of the first series of MS Boats - subsequent series included more torpedoes. I have now uploaded my files for the second series and the carrier version. These files can be found here: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3721411. The following files are included: MS 16 Armed - a model featuring two 20mm cannons and two torpedoes on board. MS 16 Unarmed - as above, but with the cannons removed for separate printing. Breda Model 35 on Mount (No Gun Shield) - the cannon in question. Breda Model 35 on Mount (No Gun Shield) without loop - as above, but with the small loop above the gun removed.
