Motorola IMPRES Battery Status Tag
pinshape
Our fire department has just been issued Motorola APX6000 portable radios paired with IMPRES batteries, while each fire engine is stocked with spare batteries to prevent life-threatening mistakes from picking up a drained battery instead of a fully charged one. To avoid this critical error, these reversible tags have been designed to attach securely to the top of the battery, clearly signaling whether it's ready for use or needs replacement. The design perfectly fits the IMPRES batteries used in Motorola APX6000, APX7000, and SRS7000 portable radios, ensuring a seamless integration with our equipment. Since OpenSCAD was utilized for the design, these tags can easily be customized to fit other similar battery types, offering flexibility in their application. I printed each tag using contrasting PLA filament - red for the bottom half and green for the top half - creating a visually distinct indicator of a battery's status. The tags themselves are 4mm thick, providing a sturdy attachment that will withstand regular use and harsh conditions.
