Human: 2 springs comp 9/32x12" 16 m3x8 screws and bolts screws for plastic Solorbotics GM9 motor box This powered landing gear has built-in protection by using a spring on top of the legs. This allows the legs to move past the guide and click in place. When extended, the legs will go past the guides and click back into position. The weight of the trailer will then allow it to re-engage, raising the legs. This worm gear setup is extremely powerful. I plan to use this box again in future projects. This design is for my 1/4 scale trailers, including the box trailer and fuel trailer. I'm still unsure how I'll raise and lower the lowboy. This worm gear box may be able to lift the weight of the trailer and load, but I won't know until I start working on that lowboy. As for operating the landing gear, I have a few ideas. I've ordered some RC 27mhz transmitter/receiver pairs from eBay for around $3 each. This will allow me to control the landing gear remotely. Another option is to use the electronics in a servo. To do this, I would unsolder the motor and run it out to the landing gear. I have a few servos that are no longer working, which could be repurposed for this task. Alternatively, I could use one of those "gutless" mini servos that I've yet to find a good use for. As well as controlling the landing gear, I also plan to run separate lights from a light board installed in the trailer. However, if I have to hook up a cable for power, it would defeat the purpose of making everything remote-controlled. I do have a plan to create a hitch plate using concave PLA that will power both lights and legs. But when the trailer is lifted, I'll lose power to lower it again. I'd love to know how people manage to operate their wireless systems at truck shows. There are just too many problems to overcome, but eventually, I'll figure out a good method.
