Motorized half automatic pano head
thingiverse
This project was created for the MakerBot Giveaway contest, but its sturdiness is untested. The parts were designed to fit within the MakerBot's build envelope, and overhangs are limited to holes to ensure printability. The design uses a Canon Powershot A560 camera for panoramic photography, moving left/right and up/down with NEMA 17 stepper motors controlled by an Arduino using Sparkfun's Easydriver. CHDK software adds remote shutter capabilities to the camera. The head mounts on a standard tripod, and when the start/stop button is pressed, the camera takes pictures as directed, moving up, down, left, and right column by column until complete. The Arduino sketch can be modified for custom intervals and time between moves. However, parallax point considerations are not yet addressed. Software used includes Alibre Design, SimLab Composer 2, Netfabb, Hugin, Arduino, and CHDK.
