Motorized Cube gears with removable base
thingiverse
Emmett's cube gears are a favorite, especially the monogrammed ones used in gifts. To motorize them while maintaining playability, one user modified the big corner block with a hex shape and added a geared motor from eBay. A battery holder and lid completed the base, featuring three cylinders for slots. The driver matched the hex shape, and power could be switched using a flexible tab on the battery lid. Modifying existing cube gears is simple, requiring only a replacement large corner with new pin. A video of it in action can be found here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TWgoSRPvsrQ.
