Motorhome Vanity LED light globe
thingiverse
I wanted to swap out all of the lights in my motorhome for LED bulbs. However, I soon discovered that finding suitable replacements was a real challenge. They just didn't have the same aesthetic appeal as the originals. So, I decided to take matters into my own hands and design some custom covers that would mimic the look of globe lights. To achieve this, I needed materials that were both thin and robust, which is why I opted for clear polycarbonate. The base ring fits snugly between the trim and bulb holder, making it easy to slide them on and let friction do its job. The end result was stunning - my new LED lights looked like crystal! In fact, I was so impressed that I decided to use them in other areas of my motorhome as well. I sliced my model at 0.3mm thickness and was pleased to find that no support material was required. The polycarbonate adhered perfectly, even with only two shells on the bottom, and didn't need any cleaning up. My extruder temperature was set at 315C, printbed temperature at 235C, printing speed at 45mm/sec, and minimum layer time at 30 seconds. When I finished, my globe-shaped LED light sat proudly on top of its ring without a single sag or distortion.
