Motorcycle License Plate Minimalist Bottom Frame

I wanted a plate frame for my motorcycle, but I did not like the look of a full frame. I designed this one to just cover the bottom of the plate for a minimalist look. The hole spacing is for a California motorcycle plate. I'm not sure if that spacing varies by state or country, so it may not fit other style license plates. I like how it came out for my motorcycle, so I decided to create more versions for other major motorcycle brands. Current versions are Ducati, Yamaha, Honda, Kawasaki, Triumph, Suzuki and KLX. I included a blank version if anyone wants to use it for a remix. I'll be creating more versions as I get around to it.

I created two different plate versions. One with the letters as an inlay and the other one with the letters raised.

Inlay Version: The inlay version is two files. There is the plate frame file and a file for the letters in the inlay. I uploaded the files in a mirrored configuration, so they can be printed on top of each other for a two color print from a single extruder. I used the Z-hop inlay technique from CHEP to achieve this. (This is an awesome channel, so make sure to like and subscribe)

You can also print this version without the inlay if you want recessed letters. Use just the frame file and you'll have to rotate the frame 180 degrees to print without supports.

Files needed for inlay version are in this file name configuration: Manufacturer_frame_for_inlay and Manufacturer_inlay_letters

Z-Hop Inlay Video: https://youtu.be/0Sla-vIsvh4

NOTE: I uploaded all the plate inlay versions in the orientation they should be printed, so in the display they are face down. This way you don't have to rotate them in Cura and risk getting anything out of alignment.

Raised Letter Version: I also created a single file, raised letter version of the plate frames. The letter raise 1mm above the plate frame. You can also print this with the letters being a different color with a single extruder using the "pause at height" technique in Cura.

These files are named: Manufacturer_Frame_Raised_Letters

Multi-Color Print Technique in Cura: https://youtu.be/1nBnVtOEAiY

Enjoy and please share any pictures of the finished prints and cool motorcycles!

Print Settings

Printer Brand:

Creality

Printer:

Ender 3

Rafts:

No

Supports:

No

Resolution:

0.2 mm

Filament:

Doesn't matter PLA

Whatever looks good

Notes:

Everything was printed in PLA

The letters for the inlay are pretty small, so I recommend printing at 100% infill

For the frame I printed it at 20% infill, but it really does not matter that much

Category: Automotive
