I use hand brake to lock my front wheel when I'm riding on a ferry or during something similar. When you take your motorcycle out for a trip, slam her in gear and put the hand brake on while striping down to ensure you have a good night's sleep before the trip! You can also use it with ISO grips. However, note that using excessive pressure on your brakes over an extended period of time could damage rubber seals. This can be avoided if you're not in the danger zone as long as you don't abuse it like during harsh winter conditions. Nonetheless, be aware of this potential risk. I'll be using mine for a two-day ferry ride across the Baltic Sea this summer and I'm not worried at all.
