Motorcycle Dashboard Lithophane
thingiverse
This is a lithophane created using OpenSCAD of my motorcycle's dashboard (2009 Suzuki GZ-250) This isn't customizable via customizer, to get it to work on your computer download images.scad & point the path to one of the images (or your own). FAQ: Q: Is bike3.stl really 170mb? Yes, a 800x600 image produces a lot of polygons. If you print this STL it may take a couple of minutes to slice but printing will only take a couple of hours. You may want to use a finer setting to get all the details. Q: How did you create the images? I used gimp and the posterize effect. I also made them black & white as well as using the Gaussian blur and de-noise filters. Q: I noticed if I add anything to the OpenSCAD file it takes a while to render, do you see the same thing? Yes, I noticed this too. Adding just the image doesn't take very long to render in OpenSCAD but trying to add a backing plate makes it super slow. On the off chance you are editing the file to get a backing plate, you could use a raft without an outline to prevent part of the speedometer from being cut off.
