(Update 03-OCT-2021: made 20mm taller based on experience using it) (Update 23-OCT-2021: don't need support under curve. use new Prusaslicer "snug" support) (Update 07-NOV-2021: deepen chain clearance cuts by 5mm - upload 3mf) This is a sump to help clean and lube my motorcycle chain. This is very specific to my bike (an Energica EsseEsse9) but I've parameterized it as much as possible to make it a little easier to modify for other bikes. Use the "#" highlight/debug operator in OpenSCAD to explore how the pieces are arranged. It should at least provide inspiration and a starting point. Since you need to remove the chain guard anyway to lube the chain on this bike, you bolt the sump to the swingarm in place of the guard. I use a battery powered kerosene stick pump to run kerosene over the chain as I spin the rear wheel by hand. The stick pump provides a good flow without being too much, doesn't need to be primed, and is rated for the kerosene. I tried a bunch of pumps, including aquarium and fountain pumps. I found a lot of them either had too much flow, or needed to be extensively primed, either of which is a big mess when working with the kerosene. I zip-tie the pump to the footpeg mount. Use my drain hanger to collect drippage. After I use the kerosene, I use DuPont "Teflon Chain-Saver" to lube the chain. I find that standard motorcycle chain lube products are too sticky and collect dirt and grit and end up actually encouraging chain damage. DuPont Teflon Chain-Saver made the chain and sprockets on my SV-650 last several years, so I'm impressed with it. You will need a length of 3/4" ID hose as a drain, and a plastic storage bin as a recirculation tank. FYI, if your plastic hose is curled up and squashed to hell like mine was: plug it with a cork, hold it with pliers, and pour boiling water in it. It's really difficult to print on my Prusa MK3S as it fits EXACTLY on the print bed only if you angle it very carefully. I rotated it to 37 degrees. Use the new Prusaslicer "snug" supports to keep support from "overflowing" the print bed and rendering it unprintable. You also need to block support under the curve. I'm supplying the 3mf file to help print it. I used PLA and it wasn't bothered by the kerosene or chain lube. This was a surprise, and originally this was going to be made completely from PVC pipe parts and brass fittings. I included a photo of this.
