Motor Mount for Square Stock
thingiverse
This design fits perfectly onto home depot chrome towel bars as well as 5/8 inch wood square stock. Its opening measures precisely 16mm in diameter. Mounting holes are carefully crafted for bell type motors, accommodating three screws, like the DT850 clearly shown, but a version specifically designed for standard four screw motors will be made available shortly. Engineers were careful to incorporate features allowing the wires to seamlessly travel inside the tube without ever having to wrap around the end and remain vulnerable to potential crashes. Multiple flights exceeding over a dozen instances in the past year have validated its outstanding performance capabilities. For anyone who wants to explore alternative motor mounting options, source files are provided - simply download them to make adjustments as needed, and once modified, kindly let me know so I can post an updated version or direct readers to the newly revised print files from here. A big thanks goes out to wolfend for developing a fantastic modification enabling standard 16x19 motor mount functionality (http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:799007). Now let's move on to printing instructions: Generally, I like to print this model using ABS material with 2 shell settings, 50 percent infill and a .2mm layer height for the best results. Adjust the infill percentage according to your specific needs - perhaps you need a stronger or lighter print. For an optimal print, use the long flat side of the part against the bed, accompanied by necessary support structures. While I have experimented with printing this piece vertically without any additional support, unfortunately it became extremely weak across all print layers and wouldn't function as effectively in actual flight scenarios. As you position the part on your bed for printing, keep in mind how this affects both the type of support generated by the slicer software during the process as well as its overall removal afterwards - the better supported it remains, the smoother a post-processing operation will prove to be.
