Moto G4 Plus Phone Cover (Rubber Filament)
thingiverse
This is a cover for a Lenovo Moto G4 Plus phone, designed in openScad. The design process was marked by trial and error, resulting in code that's far from perfect due to numerous changes made along the way. Dimensions and shape were developed through experimentation. Note that dimensions are tailored for rubber filament which can be stretched slightly for a snug fit. Thin membranes have been added to openings for power, earphone socket, volume and power buttons to serve as supports. A sharp knife or cutters should be used to cut out the holes. The large hole in the back cover is reserved for an address label on the phone (in case it gets lost). Future plans include printing a PLA or ABS version of the design; however, significant changes may be necessary to accommodate the phone due to limited stretching capabilities. Print Settings: * Printer: RepRap * Printer Model: Migbot Prusa i3 * Rafts: No * Supports: No * Resolution: 0.2mm layers, 0.4mm nozzle * Infill: 15% Notes: Don't print rubber filament too hot; otherwise, it won't bridge well. Post-Printing: Clean up: Rubber filament is prone to being "stringy" and doesn't retract cleanly, resulting in loose threads that require tidying up. Overhangs are also unsupported, which may lead to a few "hung" threads that need to be cut. How I Designed This: Designed in openScad I started with the intention of writing clean code, but after several iterations, the code became increasingly messy and worse. Please don't expect the design to scale correctly with parameter changes.
