MotionDrop, the dead drop bicycle
pinshape
The motion drop-anonymous, offline, peer-to-peer file-sharing network in public space is a game-changer. Until now, dead drops were limited to static locations like brick or concrete walls. No more. Introducing the motion drop: a dynamic, on-the-go file-sharing system that lets you share files with friends without needing the internet. Simply let them know your location and they can grab the files in person. Need to share info with friends while commuting? Tell them where your bike will be and they can pick up the files there. Imagine a community bicycle that anyone can use when needed, but leaves a memento of its travels behind. A photo, letter, poem, or story is left each time the bike is used. When the drive is full, a community event is held to relive the history and travels of the motion drop. Design: The design is sleek and simple, allowing for use with various flash drive sizes. There are four pieces: an outer case, inner case, cap, and spacer. Mount it on any bike tube using tie wraps, which securely hold both cases in place. Choose from spacers ranging from 4mm to 17mm by measuring the gap between the flash drive and wall. Print files as plated, with minimal support material needed for a tight-fitting cap with a 0.2mm gap. All pieces were printed with 2 perimeter layers and 15% infill. Support material was printed with 45% infill and 4 layers of 75% dense infill. Ride it, live it, share it - that's the motion drop.
