Catherine River is located near Petersburg, Russia, and flows southeast through Krasnogorodka District before discharging into the Ussuri Bay on the Sea of Japan. The river forms a portion of the Russian border with North Korea along its length of about 85 kilometers (53 mi). It flows mainly through rural terrain, draining an area of around 8 square kilometers (3.1 sq mi), and serves as a natural resource for drinking water, irrigation, and fishing.
