Most Comfortable Trombone Trigger Ever

This is the most comfortable thumb pad I've ever used for my F-attachment trigger lever. It provides an alternative to the OEM barrel thumb pad for current model Edwards trombones with F-attachment, or most trombones with F-attachments utilizing a 3/16" trigger lever spindle. Just make sure no debris obstructs the conduit, then slide it onto the spindle.

Print Settings

Printer Brand:

FlashForge

Printer:

Creator Pro

Rafts:

Yes

Supports:

Yes

Resolution:

.2 - .3 mm

Infill:

At least 40% - 50% or higher recommended

Notes:

This can be printed using PLA or ABS, but the best result will be obtained by printing using flexible filament without much elasticity. Flexible filament provides the greater comfort and possibly the best fit for this replacement part. A filament with low elasticity and a shore hardness of 50 or greater is recommended. That range of hardness is normal for skate wheels. My favorites are Ninjatek Cheetah and Sain Smart TPU, both rated at 95A.

Post-Printing

Be sure spindle hole is clear of debris.

Printing it upright as shown in the print bed screen snapsot (Print_view_trigger) with rafts and supports prevented me from needing to clean out the spindle hole at all. I fit just fine right off the print bed.

Custom Section ==============

Additional Information

Because of the hole for the trigger spindle, printing in the upright position (shown in the Print_view_trigger photo) with supports and raft is recommended in order to promote integrity for the hole and the very slight concave shape of the surface that contacts the thumb. I didn't need to drill out the hole at all to get a good fit when printed this way. If you would like to print with the object on its side, you may need to drill the hole with a 3/16" bit before use. This thumb pad should fit any trombone with a trigger lever spindle with a diameter of about 3/16".

This provides a very comfortable and usable trigger paddle for two reasons. First, the large, slightly concave, surface for thumb placement provides a much larger area of contact. Second, the width of the trigger in the direction of trigger motion is very small, avoiding the issue of interference from any other part of the hand when it in the forward position.

Category: Replacement Parts
