After considering extensive comments from 3D modelers, legal experts, and tech journalists, I decided that it was time to repost a cleaned-up version of the bronze Moses displayed on the campus of Augustana College. Initially, the college expressed concerns about potential copyright issues and my sharing of a model created from precise photos of the bronze cast of Moses. Their representative asked me to remove Moses and encourage those who had downloaded a copy to delete it. Fortunately, their copyright argument was unfounded and issues regarding my sharing my photogrammetry-created Moses were outside their legal control. Therefore, with great enthusiasm, I present to you Moses by Michelangelo. The bronze reproduction used to create this model was cast from a mold lifted off the original marble masterpiece. This unique commission was made by Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Fawick, a wealthy couple who wished to donate an appreciation gift to the City of Sioux Falls and Augustana College. It is situated at the campus on Augustana College and remains on display near the end of the cul-de-sac on Commons Drive, off S. Grange Avenue. This model was created from hundreds of photos taken over a prolonged period. Moses is displayed with his back resting against a massive aggregate slab. His pedestal stands tall, making it challenging to obtain comprehensive photographic coverage of the bronze copy. As a result, the top of Moses' head, shoulders, and most of his back appear rough and unrefined. There are considerable gaps in the model, and my skills in MeshMixer still require improvement. The file is waterproof and ready for printing; however, you might prefer to use MeshMixer or another modeling program to resize it, as I maintained its original scale, exceeding two meters in height.
