Mosaic Spool Holder
thingiverse
The Mosaic Palette+ is an awesome machine! I'm a huge fan of Mosaic Manufacturing, so I decided to create a better spool holder for our multi-material prints. The stock cardboard box from Mosaic works okay at first, but it's really inconvenient to move spools in and out of the box. Here's a simple yet strong design that lets you quickly access your spools to put them on or take them off easily. It even uses the stock metal bar provided by Mosaic Manufacturing! I've been using this for a couple months now, and it works great! ## How To Print and Assemble There are two options for this print. You can print all three colors at once with multi-material, or you can play it safe and print them separately, then glue them together using dowels. The photos in this post show the model pieces printed separately. The models for multi-material are labeled MM for each piece. You'll need a 1/2-inch wood dowel cut to 405mm - 410mm (to fit with the stock metal rod). This leaves some extra space for the metal rod to be placed in and out. I sanded and spray-painted the wooden dowels black to match the stock metal rod. Just apply some super glue on either end of the wooden dowels, run them through the three supports, and you'll be good to go. ## Palette 2 We all know the Palette 2 is coming soon, and this will work with it too! You just won't need to use it as a stand like we can with the Palette+. Don't forget to check out the Palette 2 and Mosaic Manufacturing!
