sketchfab
The cylindrical mortar made of diorite stone has an outer surface with incisions forming stepped and geometric figures schematically outlined. The final finish was polished. It is one of the few mortars found in an archaeological context. Excavated on September 20, 1933 by Julio Cesar Tello, at the Punkurí temple (Nepeña Valley) at the foot of the feline sculpture, in the center of the central staircase of the temple as a seal of an earlier religious architectural structure.
