Mortar and pestle for pills
thingiverse
I need to crush three pills every morning, so I designed this pair to handle the task effectively. I fit them together in one go since the pills are fairly small. I created this design using MOI software. To manufacture the item, I opted for a Robox machine that runs on Robox ABS material. As you can see from my work, I still need some practice mastering a smooth surface finish. In hindsight, I would recommend utilizing PLA instead of ABS for its superior hardness and suitability for pill-crushing purposes. With this device's assistance, here are my suggested usage tips: To break the pills down effectively, firmly press them into smaller pieces. Once that is done, while moving the pestle forward and backward, gently rotate the mortar to distribute the crushed pills evenly. It appears to me that this approach surprisingly produces impressive results! Following a couple of weeks of testing the initial design, I discovered two key areas for improvement: a slightly taller pestle would provide more room in the mortar bowl. To optimize pill-powder dispersion and ensure it stays contained within the mortar area, I increased clearance between its sides. These changes led to the updated design – the new one being pestle 01.stl. For successful production, set your top and bottom wall sections at 1.6mm thickness with a 0.2mm layer height in your Robox machine settings for optimal performance.
