Mort helmet, Skelmorlie Aisle
sketchfab
This tomb was originally placed above the gravesite of Sir Robert Montgomerie in a secluded, private worship area and burial vault for him and his wife, Dame Margaret Douglas, known as Skelmorlie Aisle.\nThey commissioned the laird’s loft and monumental tomb to be built in 1636 as an addition to Largs Parish Church. \nThe wealthy landowner Sir Robert oversaw the construction of his own final resting place himself. He's said to have spent quiet nights there, reflecting on the violent mistakes of his early life.\nFor more information on visiting Skelmorlie Aisle, please see our website at your earliest convenience. \nThe dimensions are 295mm x 450mm x 410mm\nSKA001 | Rae Project
