Morse Telegraph Key - "Camel Key" - late 1800s

[13/10/2019] A reproduction of an ancient European telegraphic key from the late 1800s is shown here. This rare and historic key was not used for transmitting Morse signals, but rather to learn Morse code at a time when electricity was not readily available in simple ways. The original key is made of heavy cast iron and features a distinct sound, produced by the beat of its mechanism. A remarkably simple device has survived for over 150 years. This project aims to faithfully reproduce this key to preserve its memory and provide an opportunity to recreate it. The model can also be used to create a mold for casting the original cast iron version. The shape of the key is reminiscent of a camel's hump, which is why it's called the Camel Key. Instructions for Printing: Three STL files are provided: KeyOld_arm.stl, KeyOld_base.stl, and KeyOld_knob.stl. These can be printed separately and then assembled using glue. This project is still in progress. Best regards, Giuseppe Callipo - IK8YFW
