Prehistoric carved rock near Dacre Banks, Summerbridge, North Yorkshire. Acquired its name 'Morphing Stone' on discovery day, April 10th, 2006.\nThis model is built from 8 stereo pairs captured on April 24th, 2006 as part of a recording exercise with English Heritage. \nPrior to Structure from Motion becoming widely available in 2008, stereo photogrammetry was one of the more affordable ways of creating 3D models. However, the methodology remained expensive and out of reach for most individuals, requiring a specialist skillset. In this model, you can see the scales, triangles, and targets used as control points on each of the stereo pairs. The distances between the object and each shot had to be measured within precise ratios, and camera angles also had to be maintained between different stereo pairs. Convergent and divergent imagery was avoided at all costs. Each recording was meticulously planned otherwise the resultant imagery would prove problematic during processing. The 16 shots used in this model took exactly 30 minutes to capture.
