More Rigid Sheath (Master Sword - Legend of Zelda)
thingiverse
###Description This is the sheath for the master sword: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1465131 I remixed the sheath to add holes for two M4 (or #8) metal rods to go through pieces 2-7, for more structural support. There are also holes for four screws to attach piece 1 to piece 2. I'm not sure if they'll be needed, but they're there just in case. ###Materials: * Pieces 1&2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 (stls are attached) * 12x pins from the master sword design, (I printed mine at 87%) * 2x M4 or #8 threaded metal rod: 570 to 615mm long (23 to 24.0") * 4x compatible nuts * foam strips for the inside of the bottom piece (7) ###Disclaimer * I am still working on printing mine, so I don't know if it will work or if everything will fit together. * The holes in these pieces are not symmetrical on both sides, so you will need to make sure they are in the correct orientation * You must use the assembly order below, or your sheath will be impossible to finish assembling. ###Assembly: * First, attach the bottom (piece 7) to the metal rods using both rods and two nuts. * Before attaching the next piece, test fit the remaining pieces to make sure the rod is the correct length. You want most of the excess length on the bottom (piece 7) rather than on top (piece 2) * (optional) glue a few pieces of foam to the inside of the bottom piece (7) so that it will not scratch the sword when it is fully sheathed * Once you've confirmed that all of the pieces will fit, glue the bottom portion of the rod to piece 7 so it stays in place and does not sag when you put the other pieces on. * Work your way from the bottom to the top. For each piece, place the two pins and push the piece down the rods until they meet. If you want to use glue, now is your chance. Note that the holes might not be symmetrical, so make sure the orientation is correct. * Once pieces 3 - 7 are in place on the rods, use the two remaining nuts and tighten the rods in place. There should not be very much exposed length of the rods. * Place the top piece (1&2) over the rods and glue in place ###Post-processing * Assemble first * Sand & paint
