More precise Precision Piezo Orion Groove Top
thingiverse
I often encountered print quality issues (ringing) with the Precision Piezo Orion while using it with a Titan Extruder and E3D V6. I was able to narrow down the problems to the loose fit of the "groove top" part within the titan extruder. Instead of precisely matching the fit of the E3D heatsink, the Orion groove top was designed pretty loose. This remix of that particular part simply tightens up the tolerances of the groove top to match the actual E3D heatsink that's designed to fit properly (and tightly) into the Titan Extruder. When printed properly, and after a bit of post-print cleanup, this groove top fits very snuggly. In addition, unlike the E3D heatsink, this part has also has flattened sides on the top so it won't spin/turn in the extruder. Printing instructions: This can be printed with a layer height of 0.2mm. Because it's not in direct contact with the heatsink, even PLA can be used. In fact, PLA might be preferable due to it being a stiff plastic. Supports are absolutely required. There's simply no other way to print it. Not only are supports required, but they are needed from the part itself, not just from the build plate. I've attached a Cura preview to this thing showing the support structures I use for printing this. Mounting instructions: Please see the attached photograph for the correct orientation when mounting. The "flat" part of the top goes towards the front of the titan extruder. Donations: I don't accept them. If you want to donate money, please google search for "Shriners Hospital for Children" and donate there. They could use your donation for a far better purpose than I could.
