More durable folding cube with hinge pins
myminifactory
I'm absolutely crazy about Emmett's folding cubes. But with my tiny humans around, they get played with nonstop and those hinges just don't stand a chance. So, I came up with a simple trick to swap out the cone and socket hinge for holes that hold in place with hinge pins. The end result is a cube that's super tough to break. I printed it at 125% using my Makeware machine, then drilled out those holes just a tad to 3mm. This works great because I've got a whole stash of old 3mm filament hanging around. Once you put everything together, you can lock those pins in place with a soldering iron.
