More Customizable Watch Band

My Pebble band broke. Rather than pay $30 for a replacement, I printed one. Previously only one side broke (see parent). Now the other original strap broke, so I modeled both sides. And while I was at it, I made it Customizable. This watchband is designed to be printed with a flexible filament such as NinjaFlex, FilaFlex or Taulman3D Nylon. It fits the Pebble, or other watches with a 22mm band. It is designed to replace a broken band, reusing the metal buckle. You can print it as-is, if your wrist is about the same size as mine or smaller.Or you can use Customizer, and enter:Length of the strap with holes in itLength of the strap with the buckleWidth (defaults to 22mm, Pebble band width)Note that this is designed in OpenSCAD, using the “customizer” capability built into OpenSCAD and into Thinkgiverse's Customizer. To use this file, download the OpenSCAD app from http://www.openscad.org .InstructionsPrint the STL file using any flexible filament. I recommend making it 100% fill, since it's only 2mm thick, and solid is most durable. To install the strap with the holes, you will need to remove the spring pin that hold the original band to the watch. Slide that pin into the tube at the end of the strap, then snap the pin back into the watch. You may need to use a thin blade to press the pin shorter to remove it, and to help fit the pin back into the watch. To install the strap with the buckle, do the same thing, using the end with the solid tube to attach the strap to the watch. Slide the loop onto the strap, so that it's in place to hold down the other strap when the watch is on. Now you need to move the metal buckle from the old strap to the new one. To do this, remove the spring pin from the buckle on the original strap, hold the tongue (the part that goes in the holes in the watch strap) so that the loop is in the open slit in the middle of the other end, and slide the pin through the tube, through the loop in the tongue, and into the other half of the tube. Then snap the buckle around the pin, so that it's reassembled just as it was on the original strap.Category: Accessories
