More Comfortable HTC Vive Welding Headgear Bracket
thingiverse
I sought a more relaxing Vive experience and so acquired the Miller welding headset (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B073QY6B7Y). I removed the brow strap, as it is redundant with the Vive facemask and only gets in my way. However, with the original bracket, the plastic was pressing into my head, causing severe pain after about a half hour of use. I examined the width of the headgear and noticed that it was being compressed by about 10mm from its natural width. I added some width to the bracket to reduce compression, and voila! No more pain! The part can be adjusted further with the width variable in OpenSCAD. I'm grateful to nw15062 and Jangrewe for their contributions.
