Five cat tile designs based on plane groups p1, p2, pm, pg, and cm are available in this model. Inspiration for these patterns comes from cat coasters 01 and 02 (things 54736 and 56813). OpenSCAD programs similar to the one used in child's puzzle 5 were employed to cut a repeating unit from a large plate. There are ten .stl files, including tile_p1.stl, tile_p2.stl, tile_pm.stl, tile_pg.stl, and tile_cm.stl, each with four copies available as 4_tiles_p1.stl, 4_tiles_p2.stl, 4_tiles_pm.stl, 4_tiles_pg.stl, and 4_tiles_cm.stl. These tiles can be printed for studying plane groups or creating intriguing patterns. The pattern design is based on the International Tables for X-ray Crystallography, Volume I Symmetry Groups (pages 57-72, published by Kynoch Press in 1965). While errors are possible, users have the freedom to choose their repeating unit. To print multiple copies of tiles, use the files with four copies.
