Moon landing module and moon landscape details. High-resolution terrain texture of 3K for the ground and 4K for the spacecraft. The spacecraft boasts an impressive 224,806 polygons, while the terrain features a substantial 93,280 polygons. Apollo 11 marked the historic first mission to land humans on the Moon. Commander Neil Armstrong and lunar module pilot Buzz Aldrin led the American crew that successfully landed the Apollo Lunar Module Eagle on July 20, 1969, at 20:17 UTC. Six hours and 39 minutes later, on July 21 at 02:56 UTC, Armstrong made history by becoming the first person to set foot on the lunar surface. Aldrin joined him shortly after, 19 minutes into their extravehicular activity. During their time outside the spacecraft, they spent approximately two and a quarter hours collecting samples and conducting experiments. The duo successfully gathered 47.5 pounds (21.5 kg) of lunar material to bring back to Earth for further analysis. Meanwhile, command module pilot Michael Collins remained in orbit around the Moon, piloting the Command Module Columbia solo. Armstrong and Aldrin spent an extended period of 21 hours, 36 minutes on the lunar surface at Tranquility Base before lifting off to rejoin their crewmate in lunar orbit.
