Moon Globe 5x
thingiverse
This is Rev 2 of the Moon Globe, boasting two corrections: pole gap rectification and East-West reversal correction. It features a sizeable 6 Megabyte .stl file that comprises 129,000 triangles, and it presents the elevations at five times their true scale, elevated and deeper in magnitude. We thank JAXA for its generous provision of data, sourced from Kaguya LALT Team. Laser Altimeter, designated as LALT, is a cutting-edge instrument installed onboard KAGUYA main orbiter to determine the precise range between satellite and lunar surface along the nadir trajectory, resulting in global, comprehensive range data. For the first time globally, these range data will allow for construction of an accurate and detailed topographic map of the Moon. We are profoundly grateful to JAXA Selene Kaguya LALT Team (Lunar Altimeter Team) for making available their effortless-to-use format information at: http://l2db.selene.darts.isas.jaxa.jp/help/en/LALT_Format_en_V01.pdf. Users may download the essential Moon data from a file titled LALT_GGT_NUM.sl2, located here:http://l2db.selene.darts.isas.jaxa.jp/index.html; it has a substantial file size of 486 megabytes. However, we urge commercial and business users to acquire prior permission by contacting Japan's JAXA industrial collaboration and coordination center:https://ssl.tksc.jaxa.jp/aerospacebiz/jp/inquiry.html (Japanese only).
