Welcome to Santiago! Meet architect Robby Peña aka @titanium_2018, another talented collaborator in MiniWorld 3D. He brings us the Monumento a los Héroes de la Restauración, a stunning monument located in the city of Santiago de los Caballeros in the Dominican Republic. Originally built during Rafael Leónidas Trujillo's dictatorship in 1944 as "Trujillo's Monument to Peace," this impressive structure was constructed in honor of the dictator himself. However, it holds even greater symbolic significance - marking the centennial of the Dominican War of Independence, which took place in 1844 and aimed to gain sovereignty from Haiti. Following Trujillo's assassination in 1961, the government renamed the monument "Monumento a los Héroes de la Restauración" (Monument to the Heroes of the Restoration). Today, it honors the brave heroes who fought in the Dominican Restoration War against Dominican Colonists and Spanish forces from 1863 to 1865. Notable figures include Francisco del Rosario Sánchez and Gregorio Luperón. Perched on a hill in the heart of Santiago, this breathtaking monument offers panoramic views of the city and surrounding mountains. A beautiful park surrounds it, making it a must-visit attraction. MiniWorld 3D is a treasure trove of 3D printable landmarks and models from around the world! Our talented team creates each model by hand, using their imagination and expertise.
