This sculpture is part of a monumental fountain honoring the life and accomplishments of French painter Jean-Antoine Watteau. It was designed and carved by renowned French sculptor Jean-Baptiste Carpeaux, also famous for his sculpture of Ugolino and his Sons (check out more of his work on Scan the World here!).
