The Plaster Model for a Monument at Tyszkiewicz Castle in Lithuania (1842-1845) was a masterpiece created by Luigi Pampaloni, an Italian sculptor commissioned by Count Benedykt Tyszkiewicz to honor his beloved wife Wanda who passed away in 1842 after giving birth. The Count's family had a long history with Pampaloni, having commissioned numerous works from him including a replica of the Reclining Boy which served as a tribute to their son Michal who was born and sadly died just three years later in 1832. The monument itself was designed with a naturalistic flair reminiscent of Tuscany's fifteenth-century style, evoking an era of elegance and sophistication. Alas, it remained hidden for decades after World War I but recent restoration efforts have brought the old chapel back into the light whereupon the Reclining Boy statue was rediscovered, now proudly standing alongside his mother's monument in eternal remembrance.
