Montessori-Style Puzzle Toy for Infants/Toddlers
prusaprinters

A Montessori-style puzzle toy to help toddlers develop and hone their hand-eye coordination skills.

No sharp corners.

I printed the parts with a 0.6mm nozzle and 0.3mm layer height but a 0.4mm nozzle will of course work fine too. I did not include knobs to avoid the need for supports. Instead, the inserts have screw holes designed for M4/#8 flat head machine or wood screws. I used these knobs: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B077C92XXN/ but the screws included are unsuitable as they are not flat head and too long. Just get some M4-20 flat head machine screws at your local hardware store.

I used iSANMATE Wood Filament 1.75mm, PLA+ Wood Filament 1.75mm, 3D Printer Filament 1 kg Spool (20% Wood Powder+80% PLA+). It's not a great wood filament, looks and feels way too plasticky but I think it's actually better for use by babies than filament with more wood.

For the inserts I used a variety of PLA filaments, including TTYT3D's amazing Shiny Silk filaments.

If you like what I'm doing…

…consider buying me a coffee.
